Launching new products has been on my to-do list for sometime now. I dipped my toe into the water last year when I worked with Rachel on Create Craft Kits, and whilst I loved working on a collaboration, I’ve been thinking about launching a solo project in the months since.
Earlier this year I started to think about the events I would be attending over the summer. I wanted to be able to take something physical with me, to share with fellow creatives, and even swap for other goodies! I took the plunge and came up with some ideas for prints based on some doodles I had previously shared on Instagram.
The idea was to produce some samples that I could give away and gather feedback on. Plucking up the courage to ask someone if they wanted one of my prints was tough at first, but I soon got into the swing of it. Seeing pictures of my work pop up on Instagram in the days after the events left me with a huge smile on my face.
Fast-forward a couple of months and I was determined to get something launched before my maternity leave, convinced that I won’t have the time to spare once the baby arrives. This also happened to coincide with my 100-day project, where I’m sharing a piece of digital hand-lettering each day on Instagram. As my sample prints had gone down so well, I decided that I may as well stick with them, and so I’m pleased to announce my first products are a small range of prints that are available now in my Etsy store.
So, what’s in the range?
Dream Big: a positive print to inspire you to keep dreaming. Pop it in a place where you’ll see it when you need that push to keep going, be it your desk, next to your mirror, or just you spot you pass each day.
Dream Big Little One: inspired by the monochrome nursery trend, I wanted to create a print that was a little different to the many black and white prints I’ve seen, and that I’d be proud to display in our little one’s room. I’ll be framing one of these and putting it near the cot.
Stars: The ultimate positivity print! Designed for those who might be going through a tough time, it’s a reminder to hang on in there. Perfect for buying as a pick-me-up for a friend.
Plant Lover/Plant Killer: So, this originally started just as a ‘plant lover’ print, but when seeking feedback, I got a couple of comments stating ‘I love it, but I’m definitely more of a plant killer’, so regardless of whether you’re an expert indoor gardener, or whether you have banned yourself from buying plants in general, these prints are the perfect way to bring a bit of greenery into your life!
All of my prints have been produced by a local printer on smooth white card, meaning they are both perfect for framing, or just sticking up on the wall. All designs are available in A5 size, and the Plant Killer, Plant Lover, Dream Big Little One, and Stars prints are also available as A4.
I’d love to know what you think of the prints; in particular, which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.
