We moved into our home back in late 2015. It was very much new in that it had only recently been built. Buying a new house has it’s pros and cons; on the plus side you can pick your kitchen and bathroom tiles, which saves a lot of effort. On the down side, every room is painted a charming shade of magnolia and you can’t redecorate for the first year (the house needs to dry out). Continue reading
I had such a fantastic response to my first Sew Crafty Design Team project, the bright and vibrant sunshine Cleo dress. For my second project, I decided to take a different path and make something for our home.
Since moving house 18 months ago, we’ve been slowly trying to make it our own. Our last house was lovely, but we moved in back in 2011, and our tastes have definitely changed. At the time, I’d been so keen on creating a ‘home’, the cosy space you see in magazines filled with flowery print cushions and quaint little knick-knacks. Since we bought our first house back in 2011, I’ve wanted to have my own craft space. In our last house, I shared our second bedroom with a spare bed and everything else in the house we didn’t have room for elsewhere (vacuum cleaner, ironing board, paperwork, you get the picture!). Our new home was a new build, which has its pros and cons. On the pro side, it’s lovely and new, the walls and flooring are in immaculate condition. On the con side, the walls are magnolia, the carpet is a beige colour, and you can’t decorate for 12 months. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen my rants about magnolia paint (long story short, I hate it). As our one year house anniversary approached, I was excited that I would finally be able to start repainting.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been busy trying to sort out our new home. We recently moved house, and the most exciting part was that I was finally going to get a room all of my own for crafting.
In our old house, I’d started with the best intentions. Me and Mr Makes and Bakes were going to share the spare room. In reality, my stuff took over, and the Playstation made its way into the living room. As I crafted, he was busy winning the FA cup. The only problem was that I was sharing the room with a double bed and I just needed more space! Continue reading
